Football Banquet Wrap-up

The Bridgton Academy Football team held their annual banquet on Sunday here on campus. After a Jekyll and Hyde season with several games being cancelled, it would be easy for the team to get discouraged, but this group of Wolverines continue to be eager to get out and train everyday for their upcoming Black and Grey Showcase on December 7th. Many of the guys are looking to get recognized by a college coach and hopefully have the opportunity to play at the next level. The highlight of the banquet was having Coach Skip Bandini, Head Football Coach at Curry College, and also a Bridgton Academy alumni from the Class of 1977.
It was an honor to have Coach Bandini speak to our team, who shared stories of his time on Chadbourne Hill and provided insight into life as a college football player for our guys. During the banquet Head Coach Juwan Jackson handed out awards to several Wolverines who showed themselves day in and day out to better themselves. The award recipients were:
- Most Outstanding Offense: Izaiah Sanders (Stamford, CT)
- Most Outstanding Defense: Diavonte Todd (Flint, MI)
- Most Outstanding Special Teams: Yisreal Stevens (Tacoma, WA)
- Most Improved Offense: Matthew Larucuente (Walden, NY)
- Most Improved Defense: Colm Coville (Wilbraham, MA)
For the first year in Bridgton Academy history the ‘Warrior Award’ was given out to two Wolverines this year who exemplified what it means to be a Warrior on and off the field. Named after Bridgton Academy legend Joe Daley ’77, currently Director of Operations at the Academy. As many know, Joe Daley has nearly done it all at Bridgton, and is the true meaning of a Warrior in everything he does. This year’s recipients were Ridgewood, New Jersey native Liam Benjamin and Mashantuck, Connecticut native Justin Carter. These boys showed up every day ready to work and improve themselves and those around them.
