BA Baseball Wrap-up for September 6-12
September 15, 2015
The BA Baseball team finished up its first week of the season with a 4-1 record, including a perfect 2-0 at the brand new Bridgton Academy Baseball Complex. The squad began their season with a 16-0 victory against Central Maine Community College, followed by another convincing win against New Hampshire Technical Institute, also at the new Baseball Complex.
The squad then traveled down to Durham, New Hampshire to face UNH’s club squad, where the team would suffer their first loss of the season, 7 to 6 – leaving the bases loaded in the top of the 7th to end it. the Wolverines bounce back, however, and took two from Merrimack College, 11-2 and 10-3.
Wolverine pitching looked strong throughout the week, with encouraging outings from Kevin Murphy (Milton, MA), Kyle Skidmore (Franklin, MA) and Luke DiTondo (Marshfield, MA) leading the way. At the plate, the first ever home run at the Bridgton Academy Baseball Complex was hit by Ryan Harding (Shirley, MA) (pictured) . The offense clicked throughout the week, and if not for a late rally falling short against UNH, the squad would have jumped out of the gate with a 5-0 record.
Harding’s shot was part of a 49-run onslaught during Week One – averaging nearly a ridiculous 10 runs a game for the first five contests.
Next week the team visits the University of New England on September 16, then they begin an 8-game homestand, culminating with a three-game series against national powerhouse IMG Academy – the first time they have ever traveled to Maine to face Bridgton Academy.
