Longtime Bridgton Head Baseball Coach and Director of College Counseling Takes New Position

NORTH BRIDGTON, ME – After a highly competitive search, Bridgton Academy has named Aaron Izaryk Athletics Director and Director of Athletics Recruitment. The six-year Bridgton Academy veteran will shift his duties from Director of College Counseling to overseeing the Athletic Department, and will continue as Head Coach of the baseball team.

As Athletics Director, Izaryk will serve as direct supervisor for all head coaches and support staff, collaboratively building program budgets and overseeing operations while directly leading efforts to achieve annual program enrollment and departmental fund-raising goals. He will assess the overall direction of the Bridgton Academy athletic department, implementing his own vision of that program, all while keeping to the school’s mission of preparing young men for the competitive rigors of college and beyond. He will steward an identity for not only each of the school’s seven varsity sports, but for the overall Bridgton Academy athletics program. As the programs move forward, Izaryk will be at the head, guiding them to greater opportunities on the field and to increased exposure from college and university coaches.

“We couldn’t be more excited to announce Aaron Izaryk as our new Athletic Director,” said Bridgton Academy Headmaster Grady Vigneau. “Aaron brings six years of Academy experience to the position, allowing for institutional knowledge you just can’t buy, as well as an incredibly deep understanding our vision of community and a commitment to our students, their needs and their goals and dreams for their futures. He is a perfect fit for this role, and I, for one, cannot wait to see the impact he will have on the entirety of Bridgton Academy athletics.”

Aaron Izaryk arrived at Bridgton Academy as Head Baseball Coach in 2010, and in that time he has turned Bridgton into the premiere Prep baseball program in New England. With two New England Collegiate Baseball Association Championships, six playoff appearances, and countless players placed in top-level collegiate baseball programs, Izaryk has changed the culture of baseball at Bridgton Academy. His efforts were also instrumental in the construction of the new, Division I-level baseball complex on the Bridgton Academy campus.

“I am excited and honored to accept this position,” stated Izaryk. “I’ve been fortunate to work with supportive, driven leaders during my time here at Bridgton and I cannot wait to provide the same support to our coaches and athletic staff in helping them achieve their program goals. By providing college level instruction, academic monitoring, competitive scheduling, establishing community involvement and maintaining a focus on college placement, Bridgton Academy will continue to develop into the premier destination for a postgraduate education. There are very exciting days ahead for the Wolverines – past, present and future.”

Outside of the Academy, Izaryk is now the General Manager of the NECBL’s Sanford Mainers, in charge of annual roster construction and program operations. Previously, he was the Manager of the Mainers for seven summers, notching seven playoff appearances, 150 wins, a trip to the NECBL finals in 2014 and the 2015 Joel Cooney NECBL Manager of the Year award. Throughout his time at Bridgton Academy and the Mainers, over 50 of Izaryk’s players have been selected in the Major League Draft.
